We all have limitations. Some are imposed on us by others, and some are self-imposed.

No matter what the source, though, they can hold us back from achieving our goals and reaching our full potential.

Luckily, we can overcome these limitations, no matter what their source. It might not be easy, but it is possible.


Here are some tips for overcoming self-imposed limitations:


>> Understand why you have them

Self-imposed limitations are usually based on fear. 

We might be afraid of failure, of not being good enough, of not being liked or accepted. 

When we understand the root of our fears, it can be easier to deal with them.


>> Don't compare yourself to others

One of the biggest sources of self-imposed limitations is comparing ourselves to others. 

We see what others have accomplished and think that we can't measure up. 

But the truth is, we all have different talents and abilities, and we all move at our own pace. 

Comparing ourselves to others is only going to hold us back.


>> Set realistic goals

Part of overcoming self-imposed limitations is setting goals that are realistic for us. 

We might have grandiose ideas of what we want to achieve, but if we're not realistic about what we can accomplish, we're only setting ourselves up for disappointment. 

Start small and build up to bigger goals.


>> Take baby steps

When we're trying to overcome self-imposed limitations, it's important to take things slowly. 

We might want to make huge changes all at once, but that's usually not possible or sustainable. 

Instead, focus on taking small steps that will get you closer to your goals.


>>  Be patient

Change takes time, so be patient with yourself. 

Remember that you didn't develop these self-imposed limitations overnight, so you're not going to be able to get rid of them overnight either. 

Be patient and keep working at it, and you will eventually see progress.


>> Seek support

Trying to overcome self-imposed limitations can be difficult, so it's important to seek out support from others. 

Find people who will encourage and motivate you, and who will believe in you even when you don't believe in yourself.


>> Be persistent

There will be setbacks along the way, but don't let them stop you from moving forward. 

Be persistent in your efforts to overcome self-imposed limitations, and eventually you will succeed.
